Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
JunkBid operates as an online marketplace enabling customers to post clearance jobs and licensed clearance companies to submit quotes, with a view to entering into a booking.
JunkBid is operated by JunkBid ("we", "us", "our"). Contact: junkbid.merseyside@gmail.com | Website: junkbid.co.uk
PART A — GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. Definitions
- Customer means a Member who has posted a clearance Job on the Site.
- Provider means a Member who holds a valid Upper Tier Waste Carrier Licence and has submitted a quote for a Job.
- Job means the clearance request posted by the Customer on the Site.
- Member means any registered user of the Site, whether Customer or Provider.
- Transaction means the agreement entered into between a Provider and a Customer for the performance of a Job.
- Platform Fee means the fee charged by JunkBid to the Customer upon accepting a quote, equal to 10% of the Provider's accepted quote amount.
- Site means junkbid.co.uk and any associated applications.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By using JunkBid you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. We may update these Terms at any time — continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
3. Our Role — Neutral Marketplace
JunkBid is not a clearance company, waste carrier, broker, or intermediary. The Site acts as a neutral marketplace through which Customers and Providers can meet and enter into Transactions.
We have no control over the quality, safety, or legal aspects of Jobs or Transactions conducted through the Site. The contract for the clearance work is between the Customer and the Provider — JunkBid is not a party to that contract.
We assume no responsibility for claims made by Providers regarding their licences, insurance, or other credentials. We verify waste carrier licences at the point of registration but cannot guarantee ongoing compliance.
4. Member Responsibilities
Customers must:
- Provide accurate information about their clearance job, including location, items, photos, and access details.
- Pay the Platform Fee promptly upon accepting a quote.
- Pay the Provider's agreed quote amount directly to the Provider on the day of the clearance.
Providers must:
- Hold a valid Upper Tier Waste Carrier Licence issued by the Environment Agency at all times.
- Honour any quote that has been accepted by a Customer and confirmed with a Platform Fee payment.
- Carry out the Job professionally and dispose of all waste legally and responsibly.
- Not contact Customers through channels outside JunkBid before a booking is confirmed.
5. Platform Fee
JunkBid charges a Platform Fee to Customers equal to 10% of the Provider's accepted quote amount. For example, if a Provider quotes £500, the Platform Fee is £50.
The Platform Fee is paid securely online via Stripe at the time of booking confirmation. The remaining balance (the Provider's quoted amount) is paid directly to the Provider on the day of the clearance.
The Platform Fee is charged to the Customer only. Providers receive 100% of their quoted amount — JunkBid's fee is not deducted from the Provider's payment.
The Platform Fee is non-refundable once a booking has been confirmed, except where the Provider fails to fulfil the booking without reasonable cause (see Section 6 — Cancellations).
6. Cancellations and Refunds
If a Provider cancels after a booking is confirmed:
The Customer may request a full refund of the Platform Fee within 28 days of the cancellation. Refunds are processed via Stripe to the original payment method within 5 working days.
If a Customer cancels:
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, Customers have the right to cancel within 14 days of booking confirmation, provided the clearance has not yet commenced. Platform Fee refunds in such cases are at JunkBid's discretion.
To request a cancellation or refund:
Contact junkbid.merseyside@gmail.com with your job reference and reason for cancellation.
7. Prohibited Conduct
Members must not:
- Provide false, inaccurate, or misleading information.
- Attempt to conduct Transactions outside the Site to avoid the Platform Fee.
- Post Jobs for the disposal of hazardous, illegal, or prohibited waste.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other Members.
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any Member's account for breach of these Terms without notice.
8. Waste Carrier Licence Requirement
All Providers on JunkBid must hold a valid Upper Tier Waste Carrier Licence issued by the Environment Agency (England), Natural Resources Wales, SEPA (Scotland), or NIEA (Northern Ireland) as applicable.
Customers should be aware that under UK law (Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Duty of Care Regulations), using an unlicensed waste carrier may expose them to liability for fly-tipping. JunkBid verifies Provider licences at registration to protect Customers from this risk.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, JunkBid excludes all liability for:
- The acts or omissions of any Provider or Customer.
- The quality, legality, or outcome of any clearance Job.
- Any loss or damage arising from use of the Site.
JunkBid's total liability to any Member shall not exceed the Platform Fee paid in connection with the relevant Job.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation.
10. Privacy
Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy at junkbid.co.uk/privacy-policy. By using the Site you consent to such processing.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
